Matt The Meatball...

This is my second attempt at a blog. I enjoyed writing my first blog and felt that I was pretty good at it, although my college professors would certainly disagree with the latter. Now I have decided to document my transition from morbidly obese and as round as a authentic Italian meatball, to a lean(er) and ultimately healthier Matt. I'm not looking to get skinny or be cut up like a body builder. Looks aside, the deep down reason for losing weight is to continue to be around. I want to see my daughter Zoey graduate from high school and college. I don't want my wife to be faced with raising our child alone. If I don't continue to lose weight and change my life, I will die. My coronary arteries will become blocked and cardiac muscle cells will begin to die. When my cardiac muscle cells perish, so will I. Leaving my wife and child behind. What kind of father or husband will I be if I leave this earth prematurely due to stupid eating habits and a sedentary life style? It's time I make necessary changes to remain in the lives of the people I love. I am only 26 for god's sake. I can do this.

I just recently found an example of where I would like to be. This past week, I watched the movie Here Comes the Boom with Kevin James. Kevin James at the end of this movie was still a big dude. But he was SOLID. That's where I want to be. I want to still be a big dude but replace the copious quantities of lard with a slabs of sirloin. Here is a visual to help see the transformation that I want to occur.

As you can see, I have a long way to go. I will occasionally show a current picture along with total weight lost. I have found this new confidence that will allow me to show you all quite an unflattering picture of myself. Let's see if I can manage to wear the same t-shirt in each fat photo too. It seems only logical to use a "countdown" theme to my blog as I lose weight.  I feel that my ideal weight is 225lbs. The thought to blog my journey didn't occur to me until 25lbs in it. For blogs sake, this will be my "initial" fat ass picture.

25lbs down, 80lbs to go
